Metelitsa, its bright lights blazing into the cold Moscow sky, played host to the launch of a new Russian sports magazine: GolfStyle.

Speeches and presentations from many in Russia's golf-playing circles highlighted the evening. Host Alexander Yakutov kept the crowd in stitches with his dead-on impersonation of Tiger Woods at the British Open, while President of Norasco Publishing Ajay Goyal reeled off an impressive list of facts, figures and golf jokes for the assembled masses.

Nearly 400 people from Moscow's business community were on hand to watch as James Balashak, President of the Tumba Golf Club, inaugurated Igor Malyshkov as the president of the new Russian Professional Golfer's Association. To the tune of bagpipes, Malyshkov spoke with good humor and eloquence about golf's future in Russia, promising to bring a Russian pro to the British Open in our lifetime as a participant and not just a spectator.

GolfStyle, to be published jointly by the Russian Professional Golf Association (RUSPGA) and Norasco Publishing, will be a full-color monthly magazine aimed at golfing professionals, Russian and expatriate, in and around Moscow. As golf is more than just a sport for millions of fans all around the world, GolfStyle will seek to incorporate all aspects of what can be a real way of life into its pages. Fashion, equipment, vacation packages, personalities and more will come to life each month as the great gentleman's game of golf is praised in Russia.
