Depot 2000 originally opened as a bowling joint. However, from their floor plan, you can see how, floor after floor, they have been adding new items to their resume. First and second levels are still the bowling alleys (660 rubles an hour), while the third is an Internet cafe ($1 an hour). The fourth floor houses the actual nightclub, and the fifth is the restaurant overlooking the dancefloor on the lower level. A good night has the place packed with the dancing part normally being the most popular.
The bowling alleys are of rather mediocre quality, however, you still will be better off calling in advance to reserve a lane. If you’re a good bowler though, this may be the place for you. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, whoever scores over 120 gets free movie tickets or CDs, respectively, along with some other prizes.
It is quite cheap, but so is the crowd that goes there. As for the music, there is, mostly, blaring Russian pop hits with an occasional break for something like Aqua or Eiffel-65. Actually, here a lot depends on the DJ, because some nights the music will make you want to kill the guy, while during others the selection is quite respectable.
If I were you, I wouldn’t come to this place looking for a lay. Because if you have been in Russia for more than a week (i.e. you have gotten at least a little picky), you are not going to find anything doable here.
