Doctors may have determined that smoking is bad for your health, but that doesn't mean tobacco companies don't know how to throw a good party. Life was good at the movie theater Rolan on Friday night at a Christmas Party sponsored by the Davidoff cigarette company. This elegant affair saw gorgeous models handing out an infinite supply of cigarettes and a fantastic buffet with endless glasses of wine offered by the restaurant Nostalgie. It was a party to remember and one obviously meant to encourage patrons to buy more cigarettes.
Even non-smokers were puffing away in an attempt to chat up the young models handing out smokes. Davidoff's name was everywhere and it may have been a shameless PR stunt, but the guests enjoyed it wholeheartedly. The evening began with the premieres of "Captain Corelli's Mandolin," starring Nicolas Cage, and "Vidocq," a new French film starring Gerard Depardieu.
After the films, guests were invited to enjoy the buffet and free entertainment, including the a cappella group Cool and Jazzy which, it should be noted, is neither cool nor jazzy.
The evening was capped off by a fireworks display, but a few guests had a difficult time tearing themselves away from the buffet table in order to stumble out into the frigid winter temperatures to watch the show.
