Autosalon, the international car show, is rolling into Moscow. The event, held every other year, is promotional in nature. That means fun and flair will take precedence over business deals as automobile companies take advantage of the public relations opportunities that a gathering like this provides.

This year, the 5th Russian International Car Show will take place at the Krasnaya Presnya Expocenter from Aug. 24-29.

The 600 participants from 27 countries will include such car industry heavyweights as DaimlerChrysler, Jaguar, Nissan, Renault, as well as Russian carmakers AvtoVAZ and ZIL. For the first time, the show will occupy the entire floor of the exhibition complex: seven standard reception areas and two special summer halls.

DaimlerChrysler will boast a wide variety of its top-of-the-line cars, including a Voyager, a PT Cruiser and a Dodge Viper V10 Super Car. Not to be outdone by its U.S. competitor, Japanese carmaker Honda will present two models specifically adapted for the Russian market: a hatchback Civic 5D and a compact-minivan, Stream. Germany-based Volkswagen will be showing off its Passat V8; Mazda will display Model 323, while Jaguar will demonstrate the new X-Type.

Up to 700,000 visitors are expected for the show.
