Love’s Bridge has been working to bring presents and aid to Russia’s orphaned and abandoned children for years. Working both in Moscow and the regions, the organization has met with a great deal of success in working with both domestic and foreign to make the lives of these children happier and brighter. It has staged many events aiming to call attention and bring assistance to the many children in Russia without the benefit of a happy home.

One such event took place relatively recently on March 8, International Women’s Day. This year, thanks to Love’s Bridge’s efforts, over 200 of Moscow’s orphan children celebrated the day by a viewing of the move “Shrek” hosted by the Dome Cinema.

This event was followedby an annual fundraising raffle held at Moscow’s Broom Mall. Companies sponsored prizes, and the raffle managed to raise $5,000 to support Love’s Bridge’s upcoming humanitarian-aid project.Love’s Bridge hopes to use the money to ship in 50,000 cubic meters of brand-new clothing and shoes from Sweden. The aid is projected to be distributed among 32 orphanages and other institutions throughout the territory of the Russian Federation.

As this week’s cover story points out, the problems Russia’s orphans face are sever indeed. Thanks to Love’s Bridge and similar organizations, however, conditions for some of these unfortunate children have been made a little brighter.
