One of the most interesting events to be held as part of the Triumph arts festival will be two concerts organized by renowned jazz saxophonist Igor Butman.
The first concert, scheduled to take place in the Rossiya Concert Hall on Feb. 5 at 7 p.m., will feature no fewer than nine internationally known jazz performers and bands, including drummer Billy Cobam, trumpeter Randy Brecker, American saxophonist Joe Lovano, living jazz legend Elvin Jones and American vibraphonist Gary Burton, who will perform a duet with Japanese keyboardist Makoto Ozone.
Another standout performer is American jazz vocalist Dee Dee Bridgewater. She enriches old-style Gospel with modern sound, rhythm and variation, a technique that places her among the foremost representatives of world jazz culture. "Dear Ella," Bridgewater's album dedicated to Ella Fitzgerald, is one of her best.
The second event, The Triumph of Jazz: Black Tie Party, will take place in the jazz club-restaurant Le Club on Feb. 6 at 9 p.m. It will feature the same lineup of world jazz stars and young talents who will perform alongside Butman's Big Band.
