For more than 100 years, the Davis Cup has been regarded as the No. 1 male tennis team-competition event.

On Feb. 8-10, Moscow's Olympiisky Sports Complex will be hosting a series of Davis Cup events: four singles matches and one pairs match between top-ranking Russian and Swiss players.

In addition to Kremlin Cup winner Yevgeny Kafelnikov, 27, and Australian Open runner-up Marat Safin, 22, defending the Russian colors will be Andrei Stolyarov, 25, and Mikhail Yuzhny, 19. The rival Swiss team will feature two stars – Roger Federer, 20, and Marc Rosset, 21, supported by Michel Kratochvil, 22, and George Bastl, 26.

If Russia defeats Switzerland, the Russian team will play the winner of the Great Britain-Sweden round, with the match scheduled for April 5-7.

The final winner will take home a 70-kilogram silver cup – the Davis Cup Trophy. This year's Davis Cup has attracted a record-setting 142 teams, and the prize fund is $8.5 million.
