Winter Olympics
The American Bar & Grill on Taganka is now hosting a series of parties called "Winter Olympics." Three TV sets have been installed on the restaurant's second floor to broadcast the Winter Olympics from Salt Lake City. Whenever the Russian national team wins a gold medal, each customer will receive a glass of Nevskoye beer on the house. Anyone who sees a Russian hockey team victory will receive a free serving of chips and salsa. Other Olympic benefits include three pool tables available free of charge.

New French spot
Carre Blanc has opened a new restaurant featuring Parisian cooks. The classical interior design emphasizes geometry and space arrangement. Specialties include a seafood salad with nut sauce ($24), ravioli with crab ($15), saute of crab, steak with Calvados sauce, snails, oysters, frog legs and cheeses. The restaurant also has a wide selection of desserts, including jellies, a variety of mousses and ice creams. The restaurant's pride is its wine cellar, containing some 700 different types of wine.

Menu additions
In addition to its regular menu, the Italian restaurant Leonardo is now offering a "temporary menu" that includes a number of both hot and cold delicacies, such as swordfish carpaccio and tuna ($10), squid carpaccio ($16), Florence-style steak ($25) and chicken soup with celery ($6).

Cognac club opening
Yet another expensive cognac club, Dolya Angela (Angel's Share), has opened in town. It features a two-tier glass cupboard containing a collection of 380 varieties of cognac – all purchased at auctions, with the youngest bottle 25 years old. Prices vary from $30 to $2,000 for a 50-gram shot. In addition to cognac, the club/restaurant boasts original cuisine based on the culinary traditions of the area of Cognac.
