LOS ANGELES - They're the oddest new couple in pop - yoga and diet freak Geri Halliwell and burger-munching pill-popper Eminem.
Yet, amazingly, the opposites have struck up a firm friendship and have been out on secret dates, the British daily the Sun reported.
The former Spice Girl bumped into the U.S. rapper - real name Marshall Mathers III - by the pool of the Sunset Marquis Hotel in Los Angeles.
They started chatting and arranged to go to a local bowling alley. One date turned into another and now they're best pals, meeting up regularly for cozy lunches and dinners.
According to the Sun, Halliwell's friends are astonished she's gotten involved with the foul-mouthed rap star. One said, "You wouldn't expect them to have much in common - certainly in terms of their lifestyles. But their relationship seems to work.
"Geri is having a great time. She and Eminem have been out together a few times, bowling and for meals. Who knows whether it will lead to romance?"
Halliwell has been single since splitting from Coffee Republic millionaire Bobby Hashemi last year.
Eminem has been linked with a number of celebrities, including Hollywood actress Kim Basinger and Irish pop babe Samantha Mumba. He is now divorced from childhood sweetheart Kim Mathers, the mother of his five-year-old daughter, Hailie.
