Cafe on Mayakovskaya

The cafe boom in Moscow has entered a new phase: Now, not just expensive, trendy coffeehouses are being opened in the city, but also more affordable places. A small cafe for 40 customers opened inside the Peking Hotel in early August. The name is unpretentious - Coffee House on Mayakovka - and the service is informal. With a wide selection of coffees and teas on offer and relatively low prices compared to those charged by the other cafes located nearby, the place is a find. Check out the pizza, baguettes and lasagnas.

Real Thai cuisine

A new Thai restaurant, Lang Sang, has opened in Moscow. It offers authentic Thai cuisine with all its spicy mixture of spices, although the Thai chef will reduce the quantities of spices on request. There are traditional Thai salads on offer, as well as soups and main courses with meat, fish, seafood and chicken. Particularly delicious are their crispy Vietnamese-style pastries stuffed with pork, Thai mushrooms and herbs. Also worth trying is the prawn soup with herbs and coconut milk. I have to say Thai food is not too heavy on the stomach; hence, you can try lots of dishes at a time and experience all the different types of Thai food.

Tasty and healthy

The main advantages of the new restaurant Three Elements are its original cuisine and menu, which features a "separate nutrition scheme" (when carbohydrates and proteins are eaten separately) that has been quite trendy lately. Specialties include venison on a bed of bilberry sauce, a fish pie featuring three varieties of fish and other meals where protein and carbohydrates go separately. Three Elements' sauces, marinades and garnishes are mostly made of vegetables and berries. Also, they offer very tasty pastries and cakes, mostly of berries. Finally, the restaurant offers a special children's menu and a kids room furnished with cozy padded stools and books and toys for children.
