Pop star Alsou Safina, simply known as Alsou, recently arrived in Moscow after recording her new album in the United States. One of the first things she did on her return was to present a music award, together with an autograph, handshake and smile to Yana Pogosian. Pogosian is the 11-year-old girl from Moscow Oblast who won the contest for showing the deepest knowledge of Alsou’s life and creativity, the weekly Komsomolskaya Pravda wrote.
The contest, sponsored by Alsou and Komsomolskaya Pravda, was announced almost six months ago and the newspaper has received 4,320 letters. It took the newspaper’s staff a week to read them all and find the winner.
Pogosian looked a bit shy – it was the first time in her life that she had seen Alsou in person, but the star promptly took the initiative and spoke about her life and her plans.
"In late July I will celebrate my 20th birthday, and then I’ll tour around Russia," Alsou said. "While in the States, I recorded an album and also picked up painting as a hobby. I got really carried away with it: I could not stop..."
