It seems like only yesterday that you could see Dasha Subbotina, a pretty young girl and a Moscow club star, on music television channel MUZ-TV and at almost every big party or presentation. But now she just doesn’t have a time for that. The smart and beautiful blonde switched to a more mature television format. Every Sunday at 11:30 a.m. Subbotina hosts "Around The World," a show on television channel Rossiya.

LifeStyle met up with the cute traveler at the small, yet cozy Lawn Tennis Cafe and had a great time talking about traveling, foreign countries and the New Year’s holidays.

How did you celebrate the New Year? At home or traveling?

I don’t really like the holiday, as well as my birthday. For some reason I usually feel sad on these days… I like it when parties and things happen spontaneously, for no certain reason. I can celebrate the New Year anywhere – on-air, on Red Square, underneath the Eiffel Tower, or alone at home. But this time was probably the best – I was on shore of the Indian Ocean in Goa.

In Goa? But why Goa?

I love India, it’s a symbol of liberty for me. I want the following year to be like this.

How did you first come to television? Was it a coincidence or your goal?

There’s one thing in my life that I’m afraid of – boredom. And you can call the world of television anything but boring. So I figured that’s what I need in order not to be bored at work!

You worked as a veejay on MUZ-TV for seven years and then you suddenly switched to the Rossiya channel. How do you feel about hosting "Around The World"? Do you regret your transition?

Traveling was always a big part of my life. I hate when things stay the same for too long; I just can’t be in one place all the time. When I worked at MUZ-TV I used to fly to places for the weekends and come back right before I had to be in the studio. Of course I always wanted to have a job that would let me travel a lot. And then I received this offer from Rossiya to host "Around The World." Not only was it a chance for me to change something, but to make my dream come true!

Which parts of the world have you already visited?

In 2003 I saw so many things – more than I’ve seen in my entire life! During these six months that I’ve been working with the show I got to go to Argentina, Senegal, Sicily, Iceland, Cabo Verde, Hong Kong and Hainan, the Chinese island…

Isn’t it exhausting to travel all the time?

Not for me! To be stuck in a Moscow traffic jam – that’s exhausting!

What will you do if someday you get bored with combining your hobby and work?

Well, I’ll get down to my personal life and start having children.

What do you do on your weekends?

For the last six months, all my weekends were planned beforehand. In those rare days when I’m in Moscow I spend my time studying the Italian language, meeting up with my friends, going to parties and reading.

People usually either sleep or read on long-distance flights. What do you do?

Somerset Maughm has this short story collection about China. On my way to Hong Kong I prepared myself by reading the book.

So, Dasha, where are you heading now?

With "Around The World" we’re planning to go to Jordan and then to Brazil, to Carnival. That will make another dream of mine come true – I will be dancing the samba on the world’s hottest dance floor!
