RusAL and SUAL agree on cooperation


MOSCOW — RusAL and SUAL have agreed on a partnership with equal rights to manage the Komi Aluminy project, the two companies have reported in a joint communique. The agreement determines the terms of cooperation in implementing the second stage of the project, which stipulates the construction of an aluminous plant with a capacity of 1,4m tons per year. Investments in the project will amount to USD1.2bn. Under the agreement, the two parties are to finance the project on a parity basis. The plant is to become operational in 2008. The two companies have established a joint committee for managing the project, where the seats will be shared also on a parity basis. Komi Aluminy general director Vladimir Kremer will head the committee.
