
ST.PETERBURG — Toyota Motor Co. Has announced its decision to build a car assembly plant in Russia. As the press department of the concern has reported, the plant is to be constructed in the city of Shushary in the Leningrad region. It is to become operational in December 2007. Toyota plans to cooperate with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to establish Toyota Motor Manufacturing Russia. The Japan-based company plans to invest USD150m in the project. The capacity of the plan is estimated at 50,000 per year. The plant is to employ 500 workers. Initially, Toyota will assemble about 20,000 Toyota Camrys per year.
